BOUND

Toronto’s Union Station is a social hub for many, connecting transit systems with various types of commuters around the GTA. In the past 5 years, Toronto has seen a 1050% growth in cyclists across the city. This influx of active transporters results in the need for a safe, reliable and efficient system that makes way for our pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike. Thus introducing BOUND; a safety network of designated cyclist points to encourage cyclist safety in high traffic areas.

BOUND allows cyclists, pedestrians, buses, and ride share programs to coexist in one space safely and simultaneously. By creating bike parking for cyclist commuters, and shaded pick-up/drop off spaces, pedestrians are able to maneuver the different obstacles they may face in the city- such as combat Toronto’s unpredictable weather. This project is designed to be an extension of Toronto’s Union Station without disturbing the historical and cherished architecture of the original station or the the neighbouring Royal York Hotel. Both areas are important and significant pieces of architecture appreciated by many tourists and locals in the city!
